There are four engine choices for the MTEEA Supermileage competition stock class. (The Model 550(127cc) Jr 206, Model 9, and the 2.4 Vanguard). The base models and any other Briggs and Stratton engines under 250cc are eligible in the Modified Urban and E-85 classes.

Briggs has suspended our engine supply due to covid supply chain issues. The jr206 production is backordered for upwards of 2 years. In response we have added the Model 550 that is available at Northern Tool. Both the ¾” and 5/8” shaft are legal. We may have a bulk order or coupon code in the near future. Do not hesitate to email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to check availability and for the correct model.

The Jr 206 engine is the current and future base model cleared for use in the Stock, Modified, and E-85 classes.  Briggs has specified a muffler to use the engine in the Stock class.  This exhaust is supplied with the motor when purchased through MTEEA. It is permitted to mount the starter on the flywheel in the stock class. We are allowing the starters to be mounted in the standard position for safety reasons.

The “Model 9” (3.5 hp L-head engine) are in scarce supply. The model 50032 is no longer available on the new market.  There may be a few of these left in someone’s engine supply.  These are no longer being produced by Briggs and Stratton.
