Supermileage - The Supermileage Challenge is a fuel economy vehicle competition for technology students. The objective of the competition is to provide Career Technical Education students with a challenging project that allows practical experience in design, fabrication, and testing. Competing students and clubs will be challenged to build a one-person, fuel-efficient vehicle and compete in Stock, Modified, E-85, Urban Concept and Plug in Electric classes.


The Solar Boat RegattaAt the MRES' Solar Boat Regatta teams demonstrate knowledge of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to design and build boats powered by the sun. They compete in a number of races, culminating with a one-hour endurance race. Video link is here.


Real World Design ChallangeThe Real World Design Challenge (RWDC) is an annual competition that provides high school students, grades 9-12, the opportunity to work on real world engineering challenges in a team environment.


MN Renewable Energy Challenge - The MN Renewable Energy Challenge (REC) encourages students to explore the exciting world of  wind and solar power. REC Teams design and build small wind turbines with the goal of creating something both efficient and elegant. The season culminates with a Challenge Day where teams bring their wind turbine to be scored on energy output in a 48" x 48" wind tunnel. Teams are also judged on their turbine design, participate in an industry knowledge component and same day solar challenge.


First Lego League - Teams collaborate to build and program an autonomous robot to score points on a thematic playing surface (the Robot Game) and create an innovative solution to a problem correlated to the yearly theme (the Project), all while guided by the FLL Core Values. These three elements; the Robot Game, the Project, and FLL Core Values make up what is called The Challenge. 



FIRST Robotics CompetitionOur mission is to show students of every age that science, technology, and problem-solving are not only fun and rewarding, but are proven paths to successful careers and a bright future for us all.


ITEEA - Reach Challenge - is an impactful Adaptive & Assistive Technology (AT) design-thinking project for middle school, high school, and college level STEM programs, showcasing ITEEA’s mission that "Technology and Engineering Bring STEM to Life"!


SkillsUSA - SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. We provide educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms.


Engineering Machine Design Contest - The Engineering Machine Design Contest is an opportunity for teams of 3-12 students to design and build a complex machine using everyday objects with the guidance of a coach. The completed machine will use multiple steps to complete a simple task. Teams showcase and exhibit their machine at a regional contest with the opportunity to advance to the Engineering Machine Design Championship. Teams are scored on a Team Journal, Team Presentation, and Machine Design and Operation.

Each year a competition theme is chosen to guide the machine build and allow for whimsical creativity to flourish. Students are able to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematic (STEM) principles while having fun in a collaborative environment.
