There are three engine choices for the MTEEA Supermileage competition stock class. (The Jr 206, Model 9, and the 2.4 Vanguard). The base models and any other Briggs and Stratton engines under 25occ are eligible in the Modified Urban and E-85 classes.
The Jr 206 engine is the current and future base model cleared for use in the Stock, Modified, and E-85 classes. Briggs has specified a muffler to use the engine in the Stock class. This exhaust is supplied with the motor when purchased through MTEEA. It is not permitted to mount the starter on the flywheel in the stock class, even though this is the standard mounting position for this motor.
Schools are able to purchase one engine on an “every other year” basis. Also schools are asked not to resell the engine outside the MTEEA Supermileage as this is a very special price for this engine.
The “Model 9” (3.5 hp L-head engine) are in scarce supply. The model 50032 is no longer available on the new market. There may be a few of these left in someones engine supply. These are no longer being produced by Briggs and Stratton.
Briggs and Stratton has made a number of the model 9 engines available to us to provide to NEW teams or teams that have not been in competition for 2 or more years.
